Found a Swarm of Bees?

Don't panic — and please don't call an exterminator yet! Swarms are natural and generally very docile. We may be able to relocate them safely.

What is a Swarm?

A swarm is a natural part of the honey bee reproductive process. When a hive gets too crowded, about half the colony leaves with the old queen to find a new home. They'll cluster in a ball on a tree branch, fence post, or building while scout bees search for a new location.

Swarms are typically gentle and unlikely to sting unless provoked. They usually move on within 24–72 hours on their own — but we can often collect them and give them a new home in a local hive.

What to do right now:

  • Keep people and pets at a safe distance
  • Don't spray them with water or chemicals
  • Don't try to move them yourself
  • Fill out the form or call (385) 888-2521
  • Take a photo if you can safely do so
